New Techie Stuff
We did a lot of purchasing during the Holidays which reminded me a Visa reward card next time. With all the purchases, I am sure we should get a few benefits from it. Anyway, I have no regrets of purchasing everything because it’s one of the meaning of Christmas, to share and give. It is so nice to give but even me received a few nice things, especially from my husband who gave me useful gifts that I can use for my online and freelance jobs. One of which is this…
This is a 1T Tower Drive to store all my important files, scrapping stuff and photos.

Network Monitoring Tools at Work
I am not talking about my job because I believe that my readers already know that I work in the medical field but for now, I will be talking about my husband and I just heard so much about network monitoring tools that I had to blog about it. My husband works in the IT Department of their office. He is one of the staff that are assigned to do the network monitoring and sql server monitoring as well and he pointed out the advantages of their task and how important are their tools for monitoring which is why they are actually looking for the best tools and so far they are inclined to purchase from Logic Monitor.
Logic Monitor offers network monitoring like firewalls, routers ans switches plus they also have database monitoring for their sql. They also have VMware monitoring which they have a hard time finding in other. Logic Monitor works very simple which is why they prefer this company:
- Your data center
- LogicMonitor data center in the cloud
- Your web-based monitoring portal
They even have trial period with no risk, no obligation or credit card required. His boss asked their team to get to business and try the trial tool and so far so good.
Network monitoring tools aid in lessening issues of outages of network and will greatly help to smoothenthe process of their internal and external transactions and my husband is very confident they can achieve it with the help of Logic Monitor.

New Gadgets at Home, ASAP
I was labeling my son’s school stuff last week and I was thinking, I really need on of those new hp desktops that I saw online, one that is fast and reliable so I can also do my Lightroom editing and blogging but why hp? Well, our old desktop is an hp and I love it when it was really new and updated now that it’s not working, I have to do everything on my laptop. Anyways, I really badly need one plus I, SO need a printer to go with the computer. I had to write labels with my own hands and it would have been nicer if I layout it on the computer then printed it out. I will have to save up for these two important items so we can function better at home especially now that my son is already in school.

Micro-blogging in Instagram
Want to share something special with your friends? But usually you just get connected with them online? I think it’s a brilliant idea to write something in your Notes app from an Apple gadget and share it with your limited, close IG friends. Intagram is an application where you can post process photos, share them and have your friends like it and/or comment to the photo.
I had a grand day with my son yesterday. It was actually my first time to bring him out without any assistance from my husband or the nanny. I was very happy with how he behaved with me, truly my son is growing up. Here is my micro-blogging note from Instagram…
Well, we had to come home instead of staying in BHS because my husband is sick. He came from his team building and he was so sick and tired when we picked him up from their trip that we had to drop the BHS plan. I hope he feels better soon.
Have a blessed and meaningful Sunday with your family!

Software for Work
My husband and I were talking about our work and how it would be very nice to have software that can help us do our jobs easily. He has been busy developing a website that his boss required him to finish and he is working under pressure but husband was still very nice to recommend so many free software downloads that can help me work with ease.
1. Notepad++ – The husband thinks that it will be very productive for me if I use notepad in my daily online routine because it has a brilliant editing component based on the editing component Scintilla and an exceptional source code editor.
2. OpenOffice – What I love about this software are its new features which includes, new custom properties, improved slide layouts, new narrow fonts and increased document protection in writer and calc plus of course, its uses for word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, databases, graphics and so much more! It is available in all languages so it is compatible in all computers.
3. Pidgin – This is a free chat client that connects to AIM, MSN and Yahoo and other chat networks all at the same time. It even has IM for Facebook chat! Now that is very much complete. You will not have a messy screen since you can go online with your multiple chat accounts in one software!
4. PuTTY – I think this software is for the husband because it is created for programmers to help initiate secure connections over the internet. I am sure this one will be very useful to my best friend who is also in the IT field.
5. VirtualDub – My husband loves this software, he encourages me to learn it so I can process my videos before I save them and compile them in CDs. VirtualDub is actually a video capture and video processing utility for Microsoft Windows. You can do some video size reduction, filtering, gray scale and many more. His bosses are always impressed with his video editing and thanks to VideoDub, it is possible.
I have so much more to learn when it comes to free open source software but these five on the list is a pretty good way to start considering that they are very useful and easy to learn.

E-Wish for Christmas
Most friends wish for an iPod or iPad, maybe some are also wanting to have an iPhone and a few I know want laptops but my wish is way bigger and different from theirs, I want something that can be used by anybody. We have been wanting one at home but a bit undecided because my son stays at home with the nanny without our supervision. I actually want a Samsung HDTV. We always see nice ones in the mall. Hopefully, this Christmas maybe we can buy one for our bedroom since I also plan in bringing my son to work everyday so with them with me at work, we won’t have to worry of them watching too much while we’re out.

This is a Samsung LED HDTV. I want one this Christmas.

Hubby Wants One
… and he actually needs a Sony VAIO to use for his job. His old lappy gave up on him and we really don’t have enough money to buy a brand new one but I really want him to buy a brand new laptop because second hands are really not worth it especially he is refreshing his memory with programming and is planning to take up helpful courses to refresh his memory. I think we will be spending on his fees first but a laptop has to be bought sooner than we think if we want him to perform better at work. I hope his office provides him one but with our government, that’s a little impossible.
