Cute Conversations with My Son 3

Posted by Litzie on 01 Sep 2010 | Tagged as: Baby D.

Yesterday, we visited my sister in the hospital. As we were on our way home, we saw Bonifacio High Street. My son knows that we can find Timezone there so we had this conversation inside the car…

DS: Mommy let’s go Timezone.

Me: Where?

DS: Dey! (There!) (Pointing to the direction of High Street)

Me: Look it’s raining hard. They are closed.

DS: Close? Oh no lights. Yook Mommy, no lights. It’s not open. It’s close.

Me: Yeah, you can’t see Timezone because the lights are off when it’s closed. There are no kids because it’s raining.

DS: It’s raining hard.

Me: When it’s raining hard the kids are not allowed to play outside.

DS: Kids no play because don’t have umbella.

Me: HAHA. Yes, they don’t have umbrella.

DS: No umbella, they get wet. Put umbella dey (there). Umbella in Timezone so can play.

Funny little kiddo! :D

Potty Training Boys (Ages 3 to 4)

My son will be going to school soon. I will visit 2 toddler schools near my workplace. I think he is ready for school but the only problem now is that he can’t still do #2 in the toilet. He usually asks to wear diaper when it’s time to do #2 which could be hard when he goes to school. So we are actually in the convincing stage to make him sit on the toilet seat already. I’ve been reading tips and articles about it…

From Potty Training Concepts:

Most parents would agree that potty training your toddler son includes not only teaching him to urinate in a potty or toilet, but also to make bowel movements in the potty or toilet. And for bowel movement training, you will have to teach your toddler son to sit down on a potty or the toilet.

So, then if you decide to teach your son to pee standing up, you will have to teach him to have a bowel movement sitting down – that means teaching your son two different things. This can get confusing for a toddler.

Let’s take a look at the potty training process in detail from the child’s perspective. (Read the article on ” When should I start potty training? What is the right age for potty training? ” to learn the details of your child’s physiological, motor, verbal & cognitive, social & emotional development)

It starts with body awareness and the ability to associate a feeling of fullness with the need to eliminate and the result i.e. a BM or urination. This awareness starts at about age 1 and until now (for the last 1-2 years), when you child has this feeling, he simply goes ahead and eliminates in his diaper or pull ups. Now you want him to learn that when he has this feeling he has to stop and find his way to the potty. Then he has to remove his clothing and then sit or stand on the potty depending on which feeling he has and then eliminate.

So, from your child’s perspective you are already asking him to do a lot – and by trying to teach your child to stand while urinating and sit while having a bowel movement, you are asking him to only learn and identify the feeling of fullness, but to differentiate the two feeling and make a decision to sit or stand.

Having said that, bowel movements usually occur with urination, and if you child is sitting down to urinate, he may have a bowel movement at the same time and thus make the whole potty training process a lot easier.

Sickie Go Away

I was browsing about cheap laminate flooring because I am planning to change some of the flooring we have in the bedroom and a friend suggested the laminated ones when I received a message from my husband telling me that our son might be having colds. Yikes. I have an inkling feeling about it last night when he was crying while he was asleep at around midnight and woke up for a while a bit grumpy. I asked my husband to give him lots of water and no sweets for today, hopefully it will go away.

God’s Message Today

On this day, God wants me to know,

… that if you feel yourself floundering in the sea of life, try leaning back and floating. Let yourself be supported. Gaze into the beautiful sky and allow time for your spirit to be refreshed. Then when you are feeling stronger, simply choose a direction and start swimming.

I need this. A lot happened this August, though it is not a good month for us, we still have so much to thank for.

Thank you Lord and please continue to keep us healthy and safe. Take us away from all diseases, sickness and harm. Please continue to bless me and my love ones. Amen.

Back to Working Out

After 15 days, I saw my colleague again and she told me about the new term life insurance policies she availed. She was excited about it since her daughters will have the privilege to share it with her if ever the need arises. She is a bit worried particularly of the health of her two daughters especially that they are on the obese side. Which reminds me to go back to working out again. I was not able to exercise while I was taking care of my son for 15 days but being with him is a work out itself but I will be a prisoner of my office chair again so I need to do this again as well…

Twice a week plus my old diet since I won’t be looking after my son 24/7, I won’t be needing to much calories to burn. Back to my old menu during lunch and fruits and yogurt during breakfast. Still no meat, beef and pork since July 17. I’m doing okay. :D

Last Weekend as a SAHM

I will miss the days that I won’t have to rush to the shower just to catch the 8am log in time at work. I will miss the savoring of my breakfast without rushing to drink my hot coffee to burn my tongue. I will miss the days when I don’t have the pressure to doll up myself because I know my boys wouldn’t mind. And of course, I will definitely miss this guy…

I will miss his mess. I will miss his scent. I will miss his unexpected kisses. I will miss how we cuddle and embrace each other until we fall asleep during our afternoon nap. I will miss him calling me “Mommy” in every sentence or phrase he says. I will miss his funny statements, his friskiness… Heck I will even miss him being annoying at times.  Only a few more months and I can bring this little adorable boy at work. Only a few more months… I can’t wait!

Time to Shop Again

Posted by Litzie on 28 Aug 2010 | Tagged as: Great Online Finds, Online Shopping

Christmas time is coming once again and as you know, shopping cannot be avoided. As much as it is fun to shop for ourselves, I want to think that this is more of a season for the kids. This is their time of the year and for mommies like me, sometimes I get more excited shopping for my son than for myself. But of course, discounts are very much welcome to get more items in your shopping list and Carter’s and Osh Kosh have so much to offer.
